Pray For One Another

Pray For One Another

How should we pray for an individual or fellow Christians collectively?

There is power in praying the way Jesus taught us and praying according to God’s will.

Foundations for prayer:

But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you (Matthew 6:6).

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:11).

And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive (Matthew 21:22).

Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you (Mark 11:24).

If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7).

In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you (John 16:23).

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us (1 John 5:14).

The power of unified prayer:

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.   Matthew 18:18-20.

Knowing these promises we can confidently pray these scriptural prayers:

Father may …… be  filled with all joy and peace in believing, so that ….. will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).

Father, I pray that …… may not do wrong but that …… may do what is right (2 Corinthians 13:7-9).

Father I give thanks for …… and ask that You may give …… a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of You, that the eyes of …… heart may be enlightened and know what is the hope to which You have called us, what are the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of Your power in us who believe, according to the working of Your great might which You accomplished in Christ when You raised him from the dead and made him sit at Your right hand in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:16-20).

Father I ask that according to the riches of Your glory You may grant …… to be strengthened with might through Your Spirit in …… innermost being, and that Christ may dwell in their heart through faith; that …… be rooted and grounded in love may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that …… may be filled with all Your fullness (Ephesians 3.14-19).

Father I pray that …… love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that …… may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of You (Philippians 1.9-11).

Father I ask that …… may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding to lead a life worthy of Your Son fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You.
May …… be strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You, who have qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light, for You have delivered us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of Your beloved Son (Colossians 1:9-13).
